About this property

Welcome to Kensington Gardens Hotel

Located in a quiet townhouse overlooking a landscaped garden square, Kensington Gardens Hotel offers understated accommodations in a central London setting. The hotel is within a 4-minute walk from Bayswater tube station and convenient for exploring major sights such as Buckingham Palace and the British Museum, both within a few miles. This makes it a practical choice for visitors who want easy access to the city’s attractions while staying in a residential area.

The hotel’s rooms are simple and functional, housed in a building without an elevator, which might pose a challenge for guests with heavy luggage or mobility needs. Accommodation is described as clean and comfortable, though some guests have noted firm mattresses and thin pillows. The bathrooms are modern and well maintained, and rooms include basic amenities such as free Wi-Fi and air conditioning (though some feedback indicates the air conditioning may not always be effective, with fans provided as needed).

Facilities are limited at this property; it does not offer parking, a pool, fitness center, or pet-friendly options. Breakfast is available at a nearby location and receives positive feedback for quality and value. The hotel is smoke-free and welcoming to families with children. An airport shuttle service adds convenience for travelers arriving by air.

Guest reviews highlight the friendly and accommodating staff as a strong point, with many appreciating the quiet atmosphere and good location. The property suits travelers who prioritize location and cleanliness over luxury, particularly solo travelers or small groups needing a straightforward base for sightseeing. Those seeking extensive on-site amenities or more spacious rooms might consider other options nearby.

We were welcomed at the Phoenix Hotel to get our keys. In the actual building where the rooms are there is not attendee/desk, which was fine for us since we only stayed for one night and have been to London before. Our room was on the third floor, we had our backpacks so carrying them upstairs (there is no elevator) was fine. If you have a big suitcase it would be more of a challenge. The room itself was like the pictures. The interior was a bit outdated but clean. There were also only one type of tea (breakfast tea), would prefer to also have a herbal option (caffeine free). Since it’s a older building it was a bit noisy (neighbors) and we were staying at the street side, so we were woken up early in the morning by the trucks who clean the streets. The location is great, near the subway and walking distance to Nothing Hill. The next day we could leave our luggage at the Phoenix Hotel all day, which was nice.

The location was very convenient for us and we liked the room. The room was spacious and clean. We did have an issue with the room that was resolved fairly and with kindness.

Room was very convenient. Very clean. Only downfall was the beds and pillows were very uncomfortable. Matresses extremely firm and pillows were thin. We had a three night stay and sleep was a struggle. If it's about location it's worth it. But if you need rest maybe not a great fit.

Pleasant stay, quiet area, helpful staff January 2026 I stayed at the Kensington Gardens Hotel for two nights and had a very pleasant experience. The location is excellent, quiet and close to parks and public transport. The hotel is comfortable and well maintained, and the staff were kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend it and would happily stay there again. Roser Vilardaga Barcelona

Fantastically friendly staff, made an effort to remember me each time I walked in the lobby. Very accommodating and a great price for the room and location! Will recommend to other travelers in the future.

Close to the tube and there are plenty of stores and restaurants around. Single room was very small and the walls are thin. Good for solo travelers who just need a place to sleep and shower :) there are no elevators, which was not an issue for me but i was huffing a bit by the time i got to the top floor with all my stuff

We really enjoyed our stay at Kensington Gardens Hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful, our triple room was very clean, nicely decorated and spacious with all the amenities you could require. The bathroom appeared newly refurbished and was modern, fresh and spotlessly clean. The shower could perhaps have been better quality but it did the job! The aircon didn't seem to be working in the room but there was a fan provided that helped on a hot humid London night. We had breakfast (served at the Phoenix Hotel) which was an excellent price @ £7.50, there was lots of choice and produce was good quality. We would highly recommend this little hotel which definitely outshone some recent stays we have had in big chain hotels!
